Would you like to play a pivotal role working closely with the Alliance MI processes to enable the Alliance senior team to make quick and effective ‘Best for Programme’ decisions? We currently have a vacancy for a Head of Costing at our site in Barrow.

As Head of Costing, you will have exposure to a high level corporate environment across three major organisations, the MOD, Rolls Royce and BAE Systems whilst work closely with a Senior leadership team with an extensive knowledge of delivering a Finance, Costing and Project Controls services within the defence sector. Your main responsibilities as a Head of Costing will involve:

  • Providing day-to-day direction and line management responsibility for the cost and finance team.
  • Building effective relationships with the finance/cost controls leaders within BAE, RR and MoD, to support ongoing alignment of cost performance across the Parties, in particular the FPC and ABC processes.
  • Providing financial support to the Alliance Team and the management of the agreed base costs and movements between risk, uncertainty and opportunity budgets together with the changes from agreed actions via the Project Control Board (PCB).  Strong emphasis on driving through the agreed and identified Alliance party opportunities.
  • Establishing a common set of standards, processes and systems for cost data to ensure consistency across all Parties.
  • Managing the schedule payments of invoices as required for the Parties and 3rd party contracts.
  • Demonstrating compliance with financial reporting requirements, and supporting the Parties in meeting their regulatory requirements.
  • Developing yearly budget submissions and creating the reports in line with the monthly, quarterly and yearly cycles
  • Producing reports on Alliance Operational Expenditure from the JCM and providing inputs to management information dashboards and other Alliance functions (Programme Director, Financial Director, Contract Manager etc.).
  • Supporting Cost Risk Analysis (CRA) as part of the Quantitative Risk Assessment for the Alliance to support decision making across the Alliance governance structure.
  • Integrating the cost inputs from the parties to create an overall Dreadnought programme view of actuals and forecast costs
